The Cottage is spotless / comforting with a basket that Leslie and Jim left for us with flowers, wine and several other unexpected things. . They live close-by and are friendly, helpful, and great at letting us enjoy the seclusion of the cottage. We woke to birds/gentle breezes, felt like we were in paradise! Tiny geckos (harmless) and a vast variety of birds are common. We had breakfast at the dining table or on the backyard deck. Also found beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and beach towels. The cottage was so uplifting in its cheery colors and tropical motif.
We saw so much of Sanibel and had a wonderful time but coming back to the cottage each evening was refreshing, better than a busy, bustling hotel. We enjoyed cooking our own meals in the fully equipped kitchen… all with beautiful granite countertops and DISH WASHER! Good to save $, healthy, and no typical vacation stomach issues. They even bought us over grapefruit from their own tree. . Les and Jim were generous to all our requests. Ask and you shall receive!
Each evening we relaxed after our adventures, enjoyed Flat screen HD TV, surfing the net with high speed & Wi-Fi or lounging on the deck soaking up the warmth. 2 bikes and 2 sets of gulf clubs were also provided!!Every night we took the short walk to the beach, sat on the beach chairs, sipped on wine and toasted to the sunset…this was my favorite thing!!!
If you are looking for privacy/relaxation, this cottage is for you! Comfortable, cozy, quiet…not your typical vacation rental. For those who are looking to get away, enjoy each other, your family, nature, and the serenity, stay at Shell Basket Cottage.
